Widows Radio

Role: project management,  social media,  creative direction

Launched in 2020, Widows Radio became a vital lifeline for emerging musicians and DJs in Berlin throughout the COVID-19 break. With the city's renowned clubs and concert venues shuttered, many artists found themselves out of work. Despite the Berlin techno scene being recognized as a UNESCO intangible cultural heritage, the creators behind this culture received little to no support during the pandemic.

Widows Radio provided marginalized communities and rising talents with a platform to develop their skills and maintain their visibility within the industry. Operating as both a radio station and a record label, Widows not only allowed artists to showcase their work but also facilitated crucial networking opportunities while job offers were on hold.

The immediate success of the radio station was driven by a targeted promotional strategy that emphasized community engagement, striking designs, and effective curatorial work, that captured the attention of Berlin's music industry professionals, including Clubcommission Berlin, HÖR, and CTM Festival. Utilizing a snowball technique, Widows amplified its reach on social media, generating widespread engagement and shares, which transitioned into an offline audience at their post-pandemic events.
